Biography

I am passionate about the “human side” of planning and investing, and I’m driven by making personal connections of my clients to understand their dreams and pain points.  It’s fun for me to be creative in a tricky financial planning situation or to present a complex investment plan in a way that is easily understood.  I see myself as analytical, while approachable and empathetic.

I am a graduate of the University of Delaware, and I hold the Behavioral Financial Advisor and Accredited Investment Fiduciary designations.   I am also the author of the book “Un-Surprise Me.” This book is a relatable Life Planning guide that helps the reader identify many things in life that could otherwise surprise them.  With the tips in this book, I seek to provide clarity and certainty when it can be confusing to tell if you are “On-Track”

For my ongoing education, I typically attend three financial planning/investment management conferences per year, and we have developed internal processes for keeping up-to-date on market events and financial planning techniques. I also work with various financial advisor coaches and consultants.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Lindsay and our children Grady and Anna. Chances are, you will find us outside.  We like to go for hikes and attend Phillies games  and the kids’ school/sports activities.  I also enjoy trail running, cooking, working on the house, reading (actually listening to audiobooks) and being near the water.  I enjoy having some good laughs with friends and family, and you will see this in my approach to my work as we like to say we take “a lighthearted approach to a serious subject.”

Supporting non-profits is important to me, and I do my best to be involved with many of them.  In the past year, I have served on the boards of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night” Walk, The Nemours Golf Outing, and the Wilmington Tax Group.

It’s important to know I really like getting good deals on purchases I make, and this interest works its way into recommendations I make for my clients.  I love to teach what I’ve learned in this area.  Additionally, I am a connector.  I make an effort to connect my clients with good service providers in everything from home improvement to accounting and estate planning.
