Jay Wheeler

I derive much of my job satisfaction from the human side of financial management.  It’s fun for me to be creative in a tricky financial planning situation or to present a complex investment plan in a way that is easily understood.  I see myself as analytical, while approachable and empathetic.  

I am a graduate of the University of Delaware, and I hold the Series 7, 9, 10 and 66. I earned a certificate in Behavioral Financial Advice through Kaplan Financial Education. For my ongoing education, I typically attend three financial planning/investment management conferences per year, and we have developed internal process for keeping up-to-date on market events and financial planning trends. I also work with various financial advisor coaches and consultants.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, first and foremost.  Chances are, you will find us outside.  We like to go for hikes, attend University of Delaware Football and Basketball games and follow the kids’ sports/school activities.  I also enjoy mountain biking, cooking, working on the house, reading (actually listening to audiobooks), being near the water, exercise, travel, sporting events and having some good laughs with friends and family.

I really like getting good deals on purchases I make, and this interest works its way into recommendations I make in my Financial Planning and Management practice.  Additionally, I am a connector.  I make an effort to connect my clients with good service providers in everything from landscaping to accounting and estate planning.
